Dry Garden #2

Los Angeles, CA

A former driveway, we broke up hundreds of square feet of concrete and used the pieces to create low walls and stepping stones.

Above the heavily compacted clay, we mounded 12-36 inches (30-90cm) of fine gravel to create two planting beds and placed various boulders and smaller rocks. We then planted a series of Californian and Mediterranean plants, positioning them in relationship to the boulders and rocks to mimic their natural conditions.
